Sublime With Rome & The Offspring @ Festival Pier at Penn's Landing, Philadephia 14/09/2017

This Thursday night we came to Philly from Hoboken, New Jersey around 8:16 PM, just on time to miss 1st The Offspring's song, so when we came inside Dexter shouted ''Ja, ja, ja, ja, ja'' and they started to play well known hit from the 90's named All I Want.

Ok, on this show (and all the others on this tour) basically every song they play is a well known hit from the 90's (except Hammerhead, You're Gonna Go Far Kid and Want You Bad) and I can't tell you how happy I was because of that. They didn't change much from the last (and first) time I saw them. That was in my home country, Croatia in 2009, not so long ago, but damn, I was a teenage kid then. Noodles looks exactly the same, Greg also, and Dexter looks like he'd lost some weight from then and like he's been listening to a lot of UK 70's and 80's punk in the last few years.

And yeah, they pumped up their band with a new guitarist and that's cool because I noticed that on some songs all 3 guitars are playing the same riff but on the higher (or lower) frets which gives them a better sound. This guys are in their fifties and they are still rocking the fuck out of punk rock scene, I admire that to the bone!!

On a Pretty Fly For a White Guy Dexter's vocal was so quiet that I thought they were playing the song on a playback, but I believe that's not correct. The only small thing which I wasn't happy with is that they didn't came out for the encore even though we were all screaming that we want a few more songs. I guess we weren't loud enough, maybe next time. Hopefully I'm gonna catch them again on this tour because I'm gonna be on the road trip all over the West Coast in a week.

Thanx, The Offspring, I love you!!!

After half an hour, just enough time to buy a beer and a t-shirt, Sublime with Rome hit the stage. They're consisting of one original Sublime's member, Eric the bassist, the vocalist Rome almighty, a DJ and the new drummer named Carlos. Well, he's not really new, he's been in the band for a while. I think he came to the band in January, and yeah he's an awesome drummer! I didn't see the band with their former drummers, but this one knows how to kick that freaking drum! After The Offspring who made us all sweatin', Sublime With Rome made us all dancing and chillin'! They played 12 songs + 2 on the encore. Eleven of them were the songs Sublime played to their audience 20+ years ago and three of them (Panic, Murdera, You Better Listen) are from Sublime With Rome's first album (from the 2011), named Yours Truly.

This report wouldn't be completed if I don't have a critique for these guys so I gotta say that the bass effect was a little bit too loud. In the moments I felt like I was on a summer/sea dub festival listening (or trying to run away from) some sound system.

Just kidding, Sublime With Rome were awesome, after What I Got and Santeria they greeted us all and went to rest for the rest of the tour. Hopefully no one's gonna OD this time!

These two bands are gonna have a long but very funny September, they are playing all over the eastern, southern and western part of the States. Can't wait too see them live again!
